From Hieroglyphs to Emoji: Exploring the Transition of Picture-Writing. The exhibition, held at the Israel Museum, delves into the complex connection between the hieroglyphs of antiquity and the modern digital language of emoji. The exhibit highlights, not only the seemingly straightforward, but also the intricate relationship between an iconic communication system from ancient times and the contemporary digital lingua franca.

Our studio faced the challenge of presenting the transformation of picture writing from antiquity to the present day. Our solution was to create an immersive experience that guides visitors through a treasure trove of ancient Egyptian artifacts, set against the backdrop of the modern use of emojis. Films and multimedia stations reveal that in the Cyber Age, as well as the Age of the Pyramids, images can serve as a complex and sophisticated system of visual communication.
